Reiki
Reiki (pronounced ray-kee)is a traditonal Japanese
method of hands-on healing and self-improvement.
It has roots in Tendai Buddhism, Shinto and traditional
Japanese medicine. Although Reiki is primarily about
personal healing and wholeness, an added benefit
of Reiki training is your ability to also help others.
As a hands-on method of healing, Reiki involves the
practitioner offering ki (bio-energy) to the fully
clothed recipient through the hands and through intent.
Komyo Reiki (the style taught at LAKESIDE RETREATS)
was founded by Hyakuten Inamoto an independent Buddhist
monk. Inamoto’s training came originally
from Mikao Usui who began the practice of Reiki in the early 20th century.
Komyo means “bright light”. Komyo Reiki places emphasis on personal
spiritual transformation or Satori- through Reiki practice.
Level 1 Reiki covers the basic history and knowledge
of Reiki, the five precepts for daily living, some
meditations, and hand positions for treating self
and others. It also includes 4 reiju (attunements)
from the Master teacher as well as many opportunities
to practice what you have learned.
Level 2 covers the first three shirushi (symbols)
and their jumon (mantras) and how to use them, as
well as more meditations and techniques. One of these
symbols teaches you how to connect through Reiki
with someone who is not physically present at the
time. It also includes 4 reiju.
Level 3 covers the fourth symbol and mantra and
how to use it. Deeper spiritual teachings begin to
make more sense at this point and become more a part
of your daily living.
Level 4 is a longer one-on-one apprenticeship with
the Master in order to become a teacher in your own
right.
